We have been serving the greater Chicagoland area with top quality residential and commercial moving and storage services for over 30 years.

Many people consider Burrows Moving Company to be one of the best movers in Chicago.

Our office and 5 story storage facility (shown above) is located at 6542 n. Clark St. on the far north side of Chicago
in the Rogers Park Community centrally located to serve the entire greater Chicagoland six county area.

We employ 25+ highly skilled full time movers. We never utilize unskilled, slow, damage prone
(and maybe even dangerous) casual day laborers as do a lot of our competitors.

Burrows Moving Company utilizes 5 (20', 24' or 26') late model large straight trucks

We also have 4 (14', 15' or 16') late model smaller trucks.

Our trucks are all low riders which means that the movers have a smaller ramp trip
onto and off of the truck (during each move) than they would have with high riding trucks.
Because our crews are able to make shorter ramp trips than our competitors crews do
with their high trucks each job is speeded up and this saves our customers money.

Burrows also does not use 13' high straight trucks nor huge tractor trailers
because they don't work well within the tight confines of city moving.
High trucks don't fit under many viaducts so as a result
extra driving time is required to skirt the problem.
Tractor trailers also don't fit into many alleys where
a lot of city moving must be done (in order to not block the streets).

We don't use lift gates either because on residential moves they just slow things down.
Ramps are much better because our men can get on and off the truck more easily and quickly.
Lift gates are best used only for picking up and / or delivering delivering very large, heavy pieces.

A major reason that we are considered by many people to be the best moving company in Chicago
is that we utilize the best mattress and sofa covers and the highest quality furniture pads
available in the industry to protect customer's furnishings.

We snugly diaper each furniture piece completely (with the pads tightly secured by tape,
which never touches the piece's finish) so that the movers can easily grip the piece
during the moving process (as shown in the pictures above). This full padding prevents scrapes,
scratches and bruises to your furniture from brick walls or other rough surfaces along the move path.
Notice in the above pictures that even the bottom of this big armoire is padded in order to
protect it from sidewalk damage while it's being tipped onto a dolly for easier transport.

Our movers are trained to use the humpstrap so that when traversing floors they can make less trips
by carrying 3 - 4 - 5 boxes at a time, which reduces moving time thus saving our customers money.

They also use the humpstrap to carry small or medium sized furniture pieces one-handed
(not two-handed as do most other movers) again saving customers moving time and money.
They also use it to carry light loads behind them so that they can see their move path better
than if they carried the load in front of them, thus preventing an injury
and / or a damage to our customer's goods.

Our skilled movers also use the humpstrap to more easily lift / lower
huge furniture pieces like this one up / down stairs.
Most movers would need 3 or 4 men to carry this piece.
With the humpstrap we can do it with only 2 men.

On all elevator building moves we utilize plenty of dollies and speed packs
(a speed pack is the big gondola box shown in the above right side picture).
With the speed packs we can carry multiple smaller items in one trip
instead of making many thus saving customers money.

With enough dollies available on each job we are able to stage customers goods
in advance so as to make the most expeditious use of the elevator.
The use of all of this equipment optimizes the men's efforts
and the elevator's usage which again saves our customers time and money.

We send a truck or trucks that are more than big enough to carry a customer's load
because our men know how to properly and efficiently stack furnishings
in order to fully utilize each truck's cargo space.

Our trucks are designed to be loaded from the side and also from the back.
Side loading is best when the moving must be done double parked on a street
because the ramp can be set down from the truck to the curb between the cars.
Back loading is only best when there is plenty of room to do so.

Some movers have trucks that can only be back loaded
so they have to park them further away from a customer's residence
which increases the time their men spend doing that move
thus increasing their customer's moving costs.

Because we are such top quality Chicago movers we are frequently called upon to relocate
furnishings from and to some of the finest residences in the six county greater Chicagoland area.
These customers have wonderful, expensive furnishings that must be extremely well cared for
and protected from damages during moving.

Some of their large, heavy, expensive furnishings need to be hoisted so for that of course
they want to find the very best Chicago Mover on their job to solve that problem.
One such customer of ours had to hoist this invaluable heavy wooden antique piece
(it originally came from Christopher Columbus' ship)!

instead of doing it themselves.

Some customers want us to store their goods for various periods of time
in our recently renovated, clean and tidy 5 story warehouse.

Many of our customers have pianos that they need to have moved to various floors.
This is one of our specialties as you can deduce from the pictures below.

Another of our specialties is to crane hoist large, expensive pianos
as can be seen in the extended photo sequence below where we are hoisting
an 8' parlor grand piano. Only the best Chicago movers can do piano hoisting.

we protect all furniture with complete blanket wrapping and covering
and we employ highly skilled movers who utilize the best professional moving and hoisting
techniques in order to relocate our customer's furnishings with a minimum chance of damages.
